A New Year A New Journey For Someflower

Usually the 1st couple of months are a little quite January and February are not always the most popular of wedding months. However there is always lots to do and our main focus when we returned back to work in the New Year was for meyself and Faye to sit down with any left over Christmas Chocolate/cake or Biscuits and discuss what floral creations and designs we are going to take to any Wedding Fayres we may attend.
Funnily Enough that is also what we are doing right now too (some old habbits never change!!!).
We were kindly invited again last year to exhibit at the Tithe Barn, Ditcham, Near Petersfield Wedding Fayre. It is just the most beautiful of barns and we count our blessings that we are so close to one of the most amazing venues in the South East.
I always envy the couples getting married there. What a magical place to start your journey together. The Tithe Barn certainly has that WOW factor and we absolutley adore working there, so to be invited to showcase some of our work at their event is a privelledge.
....AND GUESS WHAT?????
We have been invited again this year to exhibit. HOORAY!!!
We have lots of lovely, unique, exquisite floral ideas to share with you. So come and say "Hello".
You can find us in a prime location on the beautiful balcony on SATURDAY 28TH JANUARY 2012 @9-4PM.

Winter Wonderland Wedding March 2011

Spring has sprung and so has Someflower into action for 2011 weddings.

We started off this year at one of the best venues (in our opinion) in the South, the Tithe Barn at Ditcham, Near Petersfield. How lucky are we to have this gorgeous venue on our doorstep?
The decoration for this wedding was really unique. The couple getting married had a passion for skiing and wanted the venue to look wintery....but NOT Christmassy!!!
The Tithe Barn is a beautiful symmetrical venue with lots of high ledges which are perfect for decorating. So we made the ceremony end really pretty by alternating and using rustic wicker hanging hearts, Trailing ivy and lovely church pillar candles.
A lovely sentimental touch to this wedding and also the decoration was on the Registrar's table where we made a stunning table display featuring 6 white candles and white roses. This arrangement and each candle represented a member of the family who were unable to attend the wedding but were in mind and spirit. Anna the Bride gave us the candles to use and they were from Lakeland and as they burned they made a wintery icicle pattern....they were so beautiful.
Weddings are always so expensive and none of us nowadays have an open chequebook unfortunately. No wedding is too big or too small...it is still your special day and here at Someflower we are passionate about providing beautiful flowers and displays within your allocated budget. We are always looking for interesting and innovative ways to be cost effective with flowers for our clients and this wedding was no exception.
It is always lovely to decorate the aisle at you venue. It is the first thing your guests see and you want to create that wow factor and a bit of wedding atmosphere. For this wedding we made lovely silver pots of gypsophilia and foliage studded with LED lights at the base and then delicate white sparkly twigs with silver skeleton leaves interspersed between the branches.
The aisle looked magical and then after the ceremony the aisle decorations were used as the table centre displays....VERY ECONOMICAL!!!
More pictures of this wedding venue decoration can be seen on my Someflower Facebook pages. I hope to have some photographs of the whole day to show you very soon once the official photo's are available.
Please feel free to become a follower of blog and a friend on Facebook to keep up to date with all we are doing here at Someflower. Also take a look at our stunning new website designed by Limeweb Studio
It looks like a very busy, interesting, fun and exciting year!!!

2011 Weddings Begin For Someflower

Wow....what a hectic couple of months January and February have been for Someflower.
Usually the first couple of months of a new year are quiet and it is a great time to get on top of all the sorting and preparations ready for the wedding season to begin. However we have been really busy over the last few weeks meeting up with lots of new brides and grooms and their
families to discuss floral requirements and wedding ideas.
We offer a free No-Obligation consultation and we have been busy meeting people most weekends (Saturday & Sunday) since January and the diary is completely full until 19th March...how brilliant is that?
Next weekend is the start of our working year. Our 1st wedding of 2011 is at the Tithe Barn in Ditcham where the bride and groom are having a civil ceremony and reception. They are both interested and have a passion for skiing and we are making some unusual and unique displays with white wood and lots of LED lighting to personalize their special day and bring out the snow aspect for them. I hope to post some pictures very soon after the event.
As any one who meets Someflower will know we are very passionate about being budget conscious and work within a budget that our clients are happy with. For this wedding the clients were wanting the aisle decorated but did not want the usual topiary set up that always looks fabulous at the barn. So we have decided to be a little clever and create some lovely displays that are going to be used to decorate the aisle and then are also suitable to be used as table centres after the ceremony. I am sure it will look amazing and nice to have something different to showcase at the barn.
Purple and purple roses seem to be again a very popular choice for a lot of you 2011/2012 brides. We have had a couple of enquiries about black and white colour themes and also believe it or not two enquiries about using LIVE FISH in the table displays!!!
I have a feeling that Someflower will be having a really interesting year again....and we say "We can't wait"!!!
If you would like to arrange to meet up to discuss your floral requirements with Someflower, please feel free to contact us anytime. It would be lovely to see you.

Tithe Barn Wedding Fair 2011

We had an really amazing day on 29th January @ Tithe Barn in Ditcham at the wedding event they hosted.
The atmosphere was great and there were lots of interesting exhibits to visits and get inspiration and lots of wedding related advice from.
Faye and I were busy from the moment the doors opened at 9am meeting some fantastic couples and their families. We took different floral displays with us for everyone to see, hold, feel and smell.
Lots of money saving ideas were talked about as well as this years trends and colour themes.
It really was a lovely day and I would like to thank Sam and Gaynor and the girls for inviting us again. They did an amazing job and the atmosphere was buzzing. A huge success.
Also to you all for coming and stopping by to take a look at our stand.

Balcony Displays

Two very different ways of decorating the gorgeous balcony at The Tithe Barn in Ditcham.

Pumpkins @The Tithe Barn

Bridal Bouquet of all "Mango" calla lilies and green hypericum berries.
Sumptuous chunky table centres in glass cubes with leucadendrons, calla lilies, roses, kermit chrysanths and fillers and berries.

Amazing carved pumpkins adorned the entrance of The Tithe Barn.

At the end of October we decorated The Tithe Barn at Ditcham for a beautiful wedding.
These gorgeous pumpkins saying "Mr & Mrs" "Just Married" and "Welcome" were placed outside the entrance to the barn and were a real talking point of the day by everyone.

The main colour harmony for this wedding was a rich and dramatic theme of Burnt Orange and Lime Green which looked amazing.
The depth of colour was fantastic against the walls of the barn and also gave a warm Autumn feel throughout the venue with the added clever touch of Halloween.

Red Roses & White Oriental Lilies @ The Tithe Barn

On Friday last week we were decorating The Tithe Barn at Ditcham with lots of scented "Rialto" white lilies and "Grand Prix" red roses for Matt and Nicola.

We used these elegant 70cm clear glass tall lily vases for the quest table arrangements. Mirror plates, tealights, red and clear table diamonds completed the decorating and Fizzypop (email:jacqui_fisher@hotmail.co.uk) provided gorgeous red organza table runners, chair covers and red organza sashes (which I must say were tied to perfection...the best I have seen) to give the overall look that "Wow" factor.

As you can see from this image we used all white lilies as our focal flower, with some added interest with the pearl beaded grasses and two complimentary flowers, white lisianthus and white larkspur. To give a hit of colour to the displays we decorated the vases by using red organza and pearl beaded wire around the neck of the vase ...it was really effective.

The Tithe Barn is such a blank canvas. No two weddings we have ever undertaken have been the same here, and this one was no different. The tall vases filled the space perfectly and there was a good balance in the Red and White colour theme.

The Topiary Company supplied impressive large trees that were situated behind the oval top table. I adore these big illuminated trees, and the soft white crystal lights in the archways complete the look everytime. These are also supplied by Nigel @ The Topiary Company.

I particularly liked the finished look of this top table arrangement. We made this on site in situe just so we could get the proprtion and balance right for such a long shaped table. Terry Emment @ CJ Williams was the photographer today, and I am keeping my flower fingers crossed and hoping that we will be kindly sent some images from the day as he was taking some lovely shots. He also had some very exciting ideas to create a dynamic backdrop to the photographs...so as soon as I receive some examples of his work I will be posting them.

Creative Cakes

I have been sitting down this afternoon looking through and sorting some of my images from the last 3 months, and noticed I have some lovely unusual cake images.

My most favourite of the year so far ihas to be this Quirky little one.

I am not usually a fan of character cake toppers, however you could not resist falling head over heals in love with this one. Every detail was astonishing. The dress was an miniature exact match, and the bouquet was exquisit. The attention to detail was amazing. It brought a smile to your face.

Someflowers Sunflowers @ The Tithe Barn, Ditcham

You know Summer is really here when the Sunflowers hit the flower market in abundance. Gorgeous big rich yellow flower heads with dark chocolate centres in so many different sizes are just perfect for all aspects of wedding work.

The natural impact of the flower makes fantastic large displays, but also creates a stunning bouquet for any Bride or Bridesmaid to hold.

Sunflowers are one of my favourite flowers. They were the first flowers that I grew as a child in pots and in the garden, and now each year grow with my two children. A sunflower type flower features as my company logo and the company name is a play on Sunflowers. My 2nd most favourite Paul Weller track (after You do something to me) is Sunflowers and on my website http://www.someflower.co.uk/ you will see a few photos taken over the years of Sunflowers.

So where am I going with this post you may ask??

Well you can only begin to imagine how excited I was to undertake this wedding featuring Sunflowers and Blue Delphiniums at one of my favourite local venues The Tithe Barn, at Ditcham.

The barn is a complete blank canvas when it comes to decorating and sometimes if only a few displays are required by using a striking colour combination like yellow and blue which harmonise perfectly together then you can fill big spaces a lot more effectively.

Here are some examples of the flowers we made for this wedding. To see more please visit our website http://www.someflower.co.uk/
