The question is "Should We Have A Go" at our own flowers for our wedding day?...That is an interesting question.
My honest opinion is "Yes".
At the moment brides do not always have an open cheque. Budgets are having to be allocated for every aspect of the wedding. We are being asked to supply flowers and displays within an allocated budget set by the couple which we are more than happy to do and are pleased and proud to say we always achieve.
We are also getting the odd couple who are "Having A Go" at their own floral displays. This is great and a good way to keep costs down....however sometimes things do not always run smoothly so it should be thought about lots. Do you really want the stress of getting, conditioning, preparing, making flowers the week and the morning of your wedding?
I would never advise a Bride to attempt her own bridal flowers. I have been to a wedding where a bride was coming back down the aisle leaving a trail of flowers behind her because her bouquet was not made correctly-TRAGIC and VERY SAD!!! I would always say leave the Brides bouquet, Bridesmaids flowers and any large or complicated displays and decorations to a florist-that's what you pay for our experience and knowledge.
Table decorations is an area where more and more people are doing their own...and can be cost effective. However do get some professional advise before hand. Someflower has over the years opened the workshop up for a masterclass to assist people in making their own table event displays. The feedback has been very very positive.
It can make the difference in managing to achieve the WOW factor and just " having something in the middle of a table" display?? - see photographs above.
I could BLOG about the Pros and Cons all day to this question all day, and I am sure it will pop up again for discusion in the future-no doubt.
Would love to hear your thoughts about the subject.
Also please remember we are always here to help and advise anyone with any floral related questions and queries.
