What Are Vintage Flowers?

For me, vintage flowers are ones that evoke a feeling of shear English Country Nostalgia. Flowers that may be once classed as "Old Fashion" but are now making a comeback with a new and exciting contemporary feel.
Flowers that may remind our parents of their childhood more so than ours such as carnations, hydrangeas, peonies, sweet peas, chrysanthemums and dahlias.
A soft muted pallette of pastels can create such a beautiful romantic and glamorous feel to any wedding and venue.
Combined with vintage acceesories such as beading and lace and fabrics to name a few and an ecclectic selection of containers for centre peices can be acheived very easily for any truely romantic couple.

Congratulations, Love Love Love!!!!

Last Friday 24Th September my bestest mate Faye aka "Little Helper" was married in Greece. Unfortunately I was not out in the blistering heat to see her get married...instead I was being her "Little Helper" back home organising her wedding party flowers for this Saturday.
You cannot even begin to imagine how difficult it is for a florist to choose her own flowers or for us to decide what to make...just because you want everything!!!
All I can say is I have been wiring up white plumed ostrich feathers and pretty butterflies (chosen by my daughter for her Auntie Faye!). We have LED lighting to go into 70cm Martini Vases and Bubble Bowls with clear gel pearls. Organza's and tea lights and floor standing lanterns for on the balcony seating area. As for the flowers...well they are arriving direct from Holland this week.
We have decided that less is certainly not more for this party.
I hope to have some photos to post over the next few weeks. In the meantime. Congratulations my fabulous friend. You keep me grounded and focused in business and smiling when things get complicated and difficult. You are half of my whole in the workshop, and know exactly what we need to achieve on those busy wedding days and nights.

Rustic Look Using Old Wooden Flower Crates

At Someflower we are always finding different things to give each Bride & Groom a unique individual look to their wedding. We used lovely Old Dutch Flower Crates made from wood to display these lovely examples of large entrance displays. Lovely summery flowers such as lilies, gladioli, delphiniums and other sumptuous flowers make the perfect entrance display.

You can see here how the crates have been used differently in the above pictures to display the flowers in a charming rustic way.

The Last Delivery Of The Day

Its lovely when we are asked if we can wait at the church or a venue to hand the wedding bouquet over to the bride on her arrival. This is what this image shows...not us hanging around soaking up the sun as I think the person behind the lense thought!!!!!

A Sunny Day in June @ St Mary's - Buriton

St Mary's Church at Buriton is one of my all time favourite local churches. We feel very content and happy when we work there.
It has the most beautiful interior, and I just love to sit in the silence after I have finished decorating the venue...just for a few minutes to absorb the sheer serenity.
I envy how lucky the bride and groom are for having such a gorgeous intimate country church for their special day.
Here are a few images of a Summer Wedding this year. These have been kindly sent by Mr & Mrs Bailey....Thank you.
Also congratulations to you both on your exciting news. We are thrilled and wish you lots of love.
Please let us know when "Peanut" arrives!!! xxx

Busy Busy Busy Me!!!

Busy Busy Busy...As you can see even some of the family give a helping hand!!!

August is a funny time for me, as well as being one of the busiest.
It is not only a peak popular wedding month but also seems the chosen month for next year brides to start organizing their big day.

Many enquiries have come through to Someflower over the last few weeks to arrange consultations to discuss floral requirements. We have met some fantastic couples and their families and I start to dream all thinks flowers and think up some new and innovative floral designs that they may like to have on their special day.

It is so very exciting and we always feel very privileged to play a part on such an important day.

It is also a sad time as we say "Goodbye & Farewell" wishing love and best wishes to our 2010 couples that we have known for many many months. Their wedding day seem to come round so very fast once the New Year begins. Time truly does fly when you are having fun.!!!!

Someflower offer a No-Obligation consultation. To arrange one please contact us through our contact page on our website http://www.someflower.co.uk/
